چکیده

We show that the the cyclotron resonance in a two-dimensional electron gas has nontrivial properties if the correlation length of the disorder is larger than the de Broglie wavelength: (a) the linewidth depends di erently on the magnetic eld in strong, intermediate, and weak magnetic eld regimes (b) at the transition from the intermediate to the weak elds the linewidth suddenly collapses due to an explosive growth of the fraction of electrons with the di usive classical motion and a resulting very large quantum localization length.

Cyclotron Resonance in a Two-Dimensional Electron Gas with Long-Range Randomness

We show that the cyclotron resonance in a two-dimensional electron gas has nontrivial properties if the correlation length of the disorder is larger than the Fermi wavelength: (a) The line shape assumes three different forms in strong, intermediate, and weak magnetic fields. (b) The linewidth collapses at the transition from the intermediate to the weak fields via the motional narrowing mechani...

Theory of combined exciton-cyclotron resonance in a two-dimensional electron gas: The strong magnetic-field regime

I developed a theory of combined exciton-cyclotron resonance ~ExCR! in a low-density two-dimensional electron gas in high magnetic fields. In the presence of excess electrons an incident photon creates an exciton and simultaneously excites one electron to higher-lying Landau levels. I derived exact ExCR selection rules that followed from the existing dynamical symmetries, magnetic translations ...

Theory of spin-split cyclotron resonance in the extreme quantum limit.

We present an interpretation of recent cyclotron resonance experiments on the two-dimensional electron gas in GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures. We show that the observed dependence of the resonance spectrum on Landau level occupancy and temperature arises from the interplay of three factors: spin-splitting of the cyclotron frequency; thermal population of the two spin states; and coupling of the re...

Terahertz time-domain magnetospectroscopy of a high-mobility two-dimensional electron gas.

We have observed cyclotron resonance in a high-mobility GaAs/AlGaAs two-dimensional electron gas by using the techniques of terahertz time-domain spectroscopy combined with magnetic fields. From this, we calculate the real and imaginary parts of the diagonal elements of the magnetoconductivity tensor, which in turn allows us to extract the concentration, effective mass, and scattering time of t...

Local Field Correction Effect on Dicluster Stopping Power in a Strongly Coupled Two-Dimensional Electron Gas System

We calculate the stopping power for heavy-ion diclusters moving in a strongly coupled two-dimensional electron gas system by using the local field corrected dielectric function at finite temperature. We obtain a parameterized local field correction factor based on a relation between the thermal compressibility and exchange-correlation energy in two-dimension. The interpolated parameter is deriv...
